Company

Sila is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world’s transition to clean energy by building a better lithium-ion battery from the inside out.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and test high-performance cell prototypes to validate material against specific customer requirements and emerging market use cases.
  • Analyze complex electrochemical datasets to determine if a technical path meets the commercial threshold.
  • Act as the primary technical interface for external customers, synthesizing their challenges into actionable R&D experiments and sharing results that clarify the product’s value proposition.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between R&D, Operations, and Business Development to ensure that lab-level wins are scalable and aligned with long-term market opportunities.
  • Create and carry out rigorous experimental plans to explore the boundaries of our material, proactively identifying both advantages and technical limitations in new applications.
  • Invest in company values, maintaining a culture of intellectual honesty and first-principles thinking as technology scales to global markets.

Requirements

  • A strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries.
  • Familiar with cell design, electrode fabrication, and the electrochemical trade-offs.
  • Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem-solving and experimental design (DOE).
  • Proficiency in databases and data analysis tools; experience with JMP, Python, or SQL is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with the skill to translate complex electrochemical results into a clear narrative.
  • Direct experience working with customers or partners to understand technical pain points and define success metrics.
  • At least a M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in the battery industry.

Nice to have

  • Experience taking products from lab-scale validation to market-ready prototypes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Building a diverse team helps amplify individual talents.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive environment where good ideas are free to come from anyone.
  • Celebrate diversity and all qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, national origin, or any other status protected by law.
