What you will do
- Design, build, and test high-performance cell prototypes to validate material against specific customer requirements and emerging market use cases.
- Analyze complex electrochemical datasets to determine if a technical path meets the commercial threshold.
- Act as the primary technical interface for external customers, synthesizing their challenges into actionable R&D experiments and sharing results that clarify the product’s value proposition.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between R&D, Operations, and Business Development to ensure that lab-level wins are scalable and aligned with long-term market opportunities.
- Create and carry out rigorous experimental plans to explore the boundaries of our material, proactively identifying both advantages and technical limitations in new applications.
- Invest in company values, maintaining a culture of intellectual honesty and first-principles thinking as technology scales to global markets.
Requirements
- A strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries.
- Familiar with cell design, electrode fabrication, and the electrochemical trade-offs.
- Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem-solving and experimental design (DOE).
- Proficiency in databases and data analysis tools; experience with JMP, Python, or SQL is preferred.
- Exceptional communication abilities, with the skill to translate complex electrochemical results into a clear narrative.
- Direct experience working with customers or partners to understand technical pain points and define success metrics.
- At least a M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in the battery industry.
