TL;DR

Finance Data Analyst (Finance/Data): Building and optimizing cost accrual models and automating invoice entry for a UK energy supplier with an accent on validating and reconciling the cost base. Focus on understanding complex cost flows, improving financial controls, and developing scalable, automated processes at the intersection of finance and data.

What you will do

  • Become a subject matter expert in the UK cost base, including how costs are validated and settled.
  • Partner with various business teams to understand cost mechanisms and integrate this understanding into validation and accrual processes.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Gross Margin teams to build a robust cost accrual model for reporting reconciliation and risk analysis.
  • Build pipelines to automate invoice entry into Netsuite from external systems and establish invoice validation processes.
  • Work with Global Retail teams to roll out cost validation solutions internationally.

Requirements

  • Fully or part qualified and actively studying towards an accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Strong SQL and Excel knowledge.
  • Experience working in management accounts, understanding month-end accounting, accruals, and finance systems (e.g., Netsuite).
  • Highly data literate and numerate, with great attention to detail to analyze data, discover trends, and patterns.
  • Great communicator, able to clearly articulate complex technical information to non-technical colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in the energy industry, especially with settlement information.
  • Ability to code in Python.
  • Experience with building dashboards (e.g., in Databricks or Streamlit).
  • Experience in modern data development, using modelling tools like dbt, Lakehouses such as Databricks, and collaborative codebases such as git.
