What you will do

• Design and scale core database infrastructure to support hundreds of terabytes of data.
• Act as a subject matter expert on MySQL and database administration.
• Develop and maintain self-service tooling for database operations and developer productivity.
• Create technical documentation and best practices for leveraging MySQL internally.
• Design and implement disaster recovery and systems failover plans.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production incidents.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 5+ years experience building and maintaining databases at scale (MySQL or PostgreSQL) in Linux environments.
• 3+ years experience using monitoring tools such as Datadog, Sentry, or Prometheus to diagnose performance issues.
• Proven experience in software engineering (typically 9+ years, or less with a relevant degree).
• Strong proficiency in languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, Java, or Rust.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with database internals and experience with database migrations.
