Salary: $196,000–$220,500 USD

What you will do

• Build and maintain tools, pipelines, and processes for fast, safe, and reliable frontend development.
• Become an expert in JavaScript tooling and serve as a resource for development teams.
• Refactor and upgrade the codebase to address tech debt and maintain modern web development practices.
• Develop new and unique tools tailored to Discord’s frontend project needs.
• Optimize bundlers, linters, formatters, and editor plugins for performance and developer experience.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with JavaScript tools and the Node.js ecosystem.
• Familiarity with and a desire to work across multiple programming languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, Kotlin, Go, Swift).
• Experience developing and maintaining CLI tools and packages in JavaScript.
• Strong sense for writing maintainable code and deliberately documenting for the future.
• Understanding of all the tools involved in frontend development and how they work together.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice to have

• Familiarity and experience with localization in frontend applications.
• Familiarity with React Native, related tools (Metro, Hermes), and bridging between JavaScript and native code.
• Experience directly maintaining or writing plugins for tools like bundlers, linters, or formatters.
• Experience with CI/CD orchestration, Cloudflare workers, and cloud storage providers.
