Platform Engineer

TL;DR

Platform Engineer: Building and continuously improving digital services for public sector clients using open-source software with an accent on modern software architectures, continuous integration/delivery, and cloud technology. Focus on undertaking cross-functional engineering projects, making a real difference in UK Public Sector digital transformation, and solving complex challenges in high-availability production environments.

Location: Hybrid working (blend of company offices, client sites, and home in Bristol, Manchester, Woking, Birmingham, Newcastle, London, Leeds, Telford, Worthing). Candidates must be UK residents for at least 5 years and eligible for SC (Security Check) Clearance.

What you will do

• Undertake cross-functional engineering projects to build supportable, sustainable, and reliable services.
• Work with modern open-source technology, continuous integration/delivery, microservices, and cloud technology.
• Help achieve digital transformation vision within the UK Public Sector.
• Develop and progress on large-scale, technically challenging projects.

Requirements

• Eligibility for SC (Security Check) Clearance, requiring UK residency for at least 5 years without leaving the country for more than 28 consecutive days.
• Experience debugging complex, multi-server services in high availability production environments.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Sound knowledge of Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience building infrastructure in AWS using Terraform.
• Experience with automation tooling such as Ansible.
• Strong understanding of CI environments and how they facilitate the automation process.

• Graphite, Grafana, ELK, or Prometheus.
• SQL / No-SQL Databases.
• HashiCorp tools (Packer, Terraform, Vault, Consul).
