Senior Technical Writer

Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop user information products and collateral to communicate product functionality and capabilities.
• Plan and coordinate publishing and distribution to align with product updates and releases.
• Respond to feedback from internal and external customers to assess needs and implement improvements.
• Gain a solid understanding of the product through hands-on experience, development meetings, and interaction with developers.
• Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, support, customer success, and professional services teams.
• Review UX designs and provide input on text strings and messages within the product UI.

Requirements

• 8+ years of technical writing experience in a software development environment.
• Degree in the arts/humanities, or college diploma in Technical/Professional Writing, or equivalent.
• Proven technical writing skills, including development of user, installation, admin, and command line documentation.
• Exceptional written English skills, with the ability to break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand content.
• Ability to learn complex software applications quickly and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams across multiple time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with MadCap Flare.
• Experience working with image editing software such as SnagIt.
• Working knowledge of source control systems (Helix Core, Git).
• Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Experience working with code samples.
• Experience with an agile development process.
• Experience with bug tracking tools, such as Jira.
• Experience with instructional design and learning management systems.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows administration tasks.
