TL;DR

Business Development Consultant (Fintech): Supporting early-stage client conversations, identifying opportunities across Central Eastern Europe, and managing commercial relationships for a cloud-native banking SaaS platform. Focus on building trusted, long-term relationships, coordinating platform requirements for the European market, and problem-solving to address bank IT challenges.

Location: This role will be based in London (Liverpool Street). Preference for candidates located within a commutable distance of London for in-person collaboration. Travel, including international, will likely be necessary for client engagements.

What you will do

  • Support early-stage client conversations, run workshops, and identify opportunities across Central Eastern Europe.
  • Contribute to marketing activities and conferences to elevate Engine’s brand awareness and market positioning.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with implementation partners, driving collaborative business development activities.
  • Coordinate European market platform requirements into the product roadmap.
  • Manage commercial and contractual conversations with clients.
  • Provide relationship-based and commercial support through Discovery and Delivery phases with Client Solutions teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a reputable consulting organisation with exposure to banks and situations in Central Eastern Europe.
  • Experience in the financial services industry (ideally retail or business banking) and understanding of bank IT systems and change management.
  • Native or fluent German, Italian, and/or CEE language skills required (additional European languages are a plus).
  • Highly proactive and an avid learner, rapidly assimilating technical concepts and client issues.
  • Confidence to ask insightful questions and engage in conversation with senior bank executives.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, adaptable to different stakeholders.

Hiring process

  • Initial video interview with a member of the Business Development team (45 minutes).
  • Secondary, deeper interview with additional team members, including the Regional Director for Europe, preferably hosted in the London office (60 minutes).
  • Final interview with Engine’s Chief Commercial Officer (45 minutes).
