Security Intern

TL;DR

Security Intern: Examining large sets of data for security issues and performing administrative tasks to enable security programs with an accent on monitoring security controls, analyzing logs, and managing patch application. Focus on incident response, vulnerability assessment, and ensuring controls are in place and operating correctly.

Location: Utah-based hybrid position, requiring some regular in-office days each week in Draper, UT. Employment is contingent on passing both a background and credit check.

What you will do

• Work closely with the IT Security team to address security concerns and help with incident response.
• Monitor security controls and analyze the impact of their logs using SIEM technology and scripting.
• Review and improve security and IT controls to ensure they are up to date and fully applied.
• Work with vulnerability assessment tools and manage the application of patches.

Requirements

• Must be currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology with a security focus, or related fields, and going into your senior year this fall.
• Must be available full-time (M-F 8-5 pm).
• Must be able to travel to the Draper, UT office for occasional meetings.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (how websites, ports, IP addresses, and encryption work).
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, organizational, time-management, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Windows, OS X, and Linux.
• Experience working with malware defense or an Intrusion Detection System.
• Passion for technology, seeing it as a hobby on top of a career.
