Senior Staff Application Engineer

Senior Staff Application Engineer (DSP): Assisting customers in designing and optimizing coherent DSP semiconductor solutions for optical interfaces with an accent on high-speed electro-optical components and signal processing challenges. Focus on debugging complex optical systems, translating customer requirements into technical deliverables, and serving as a trusted advisor at the Santa Clara design site.

Location: Must work on-site at the Santa Clara, CA facility five days a week.

Salary: $131,010 – $196,300 per annum

What you will do

• Assist customers in integrating and validating coherent DSP platforms within networking and optical subsystem products.
• Debug complex optical, analog, and signal-processing issues using a hands-on laboratory approach.
• Translate technical customer requirements and feature requests into actionable engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analog, digital, algorithm, and firmware departments to remove engineering blockers.
• Perform characterization and validation of high-speed components like lasers, modulators, and ICRs.
• Develop technical documentation and provide expert training to empower customers in using coherent technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, or Master's/PhD with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong expertise in digital signal processing as applied to optical communications.
• Hands-on experience with electro-optical components like modulators and lasers.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, and MATLAB.
• Must be eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. export control laws.
• Ability to work on-site at the Santa Clara office five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ethernet or OTN protocols.
• Knowledge of coherent transceiver module design.
• Background in DSP offline processing and system-level optical hardware.
