Security Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; on-site

Salary: $230K–$390K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Design and ship secure-by-default systems across AI agents, infrastructure, backend, and frontend layers.
• Build identity management, access control, auditability, and data lifecycle capabilities.
• Develop runtime policy enforcement, agent sandboxing, and data boundaries for agentic AI systems.
• Create developer tooling for security checks in CI/CD, privacy-preserving schema validation, and runtime monitoring.
• Partner with product and platform teams to balance usability, performance, scalability, and security.

Requirements

• Experience building and maintaining production software systems and APIs.
• Experience with privacy, identity, trust and safety, authentication and authorization, or data protection systems.
• Experience building security frameworks, libraries, or developer tooling, or integrating security automation into CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to design secure-by-default AI or LLM applications and identify real security issues in production systems.
• Ability to own ambiguous, cross-cutting problems from first principles through production.
