FX Technical Director (Houdini)

Location: Hybrid in London, United Kingdom, or Paris, France; studio attendance is required at least 2 days per week in London or 2–3 days per week in Paris.

What you will do

• Design and create FX animation, procedural, dynamic, particle, and fluid simulations in Houdini.
• Light complex creatures and multiple elements and prepare feature-film-quality effects shots.
• Set up and manage heavy particle-effect shots, debug simulations, and develop procedural surface and volumetric shaders.
• Write pipeline scripts, plug-ins, expressions, and simulation setups.
• Composite shots, including blue-screen extractions, using Nuke.
• Present shot progress in dailies, respond to feedback, and collaborate with supervisors and other artists.

Requirements

• Proven production or feature-film experience in effects simulation.
• Advanced Houdini simulation experience, including expression writing.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to complete shots with minimal supervision and communicate clearly in a team environment.
• Excellent compositing ability and working knowledge of Nuke.
• Current and full work permission for the region where the role is based is required; disclose any need for sponsorship support.
