Salary: $231,000 - $275,000 (US base salary range depending on location)

What you will do

• Lead and guide a distributed engineering team solving complex problems in distributed consensus, transactions, and storage engine development.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and product management to craft and execute technology vision and strategy.
• Empower the team with ownership, motivation, and alignment to company goals.
• Provide frequent feedback, mentorship, and career development support to team members.
• Manage recruiting, hiring, performance reviews, and project execution.
• Drive continuous improvement of team processes and outcomes.

Requirements

• Must have 10+ years of software development experience and 5+ years managing software developers.
• Experience leading highly technical engineering teams and developing team strategy and roadmaps.
• Comfortable working with a 100% distributed engineering team and collaborating remotely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Reasonably current knowledge of C++, C, Rust, or other systems languages including profiling and benchmarking.
• Previous experience growing teams to 15-20 people.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Linux filesystem internals.
• Experience with databases or storage systems internals such as RPC, caching, allocators, compressors, Raft, Paxos.
• Previous experience managing people managers.
