What you will do
- Own end-to-end reliability and uptime of mission-critical production data pipelines, processing billions of messages weekly.
- Design and implement self-healing pipelines with automated monitoring, testing, and recovery systems.
- Accelerate development velocity for Data Scientists by deploying CI/CD and self-service platforms.
- Architect and optimize data pipelines for massive scale, supporting global expansion and compliance requirements (GDPR, FedRAMP, SOC2).
- Bridge technical and business domains, ensuring data infrastructure aligns with GTM and financial decisions.
- Establish data engineering excellence by defining best practices and mentoring embedded Data Guild team members.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in backend, distributed systems, or data-focused roles.
- Proven experience designing and running large-scale, production-grade data pipelines.
- Proficiency in Python, Spark/PySpark, Airflow, SQL, dbt, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS.
- Track record of driving pipeline reliability to 99%+ uptime, including SLAs, observability, and automated recovery patterns.
- Strong systems-thinking skills with the ability to debug complex distributed systems and make architectural decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems or other related quantitative fields.
Nice to have
- Experience building or operating AI/ML data pipelines.
- Background in high-growth environments requiring frequent re-architecture and optimization.
- Experience with compliance frameworks such as GDPR, SOC2, FedRAMP, and PII handling.
- Knowledge of multi-region data architectures or cellular/multi-tenant systems.
- Background in cybersecurity, threat detection, or email security.
