What you will do

• Design and architect new backend services running on AWS
• Optimize and refactor existing backend services for reliability and cost efficiency
• Document architecture and system designs, review code and technical plans
• Collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with product requirements
• Provide production and integration support for shared payment technologies
• Identify and recommend improvements to address systemic issues and technical debt

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Austin, TX or Toronto, Canada
• 6+ years of software development experience with backend focus
• Proficiency in Java and RESTful service development
• Strong experience with AWS and database systems (SQL, NoSQL)
• Familiarity with C#/C++, Kubernetes, and frontend frameworks (JavaScript, Angular, React) is a plus
• Experience with AI tools

Nice to have

• Experience with mobile client development
• Strong understanding of algorithms, design patterns, and performance optimization
• Experience with agile methodologies
