What you will do

• Directly lead a pod of engineers responsible for Canary's core products.
• Set an example as an individual contributor in terms of code quality and velocity.
• Think about overall architecture and own its evolution based on engineering and product needs.
• Understand metrics and customer usage to have a strong voice on product decisions and prioritization.
• Independently mentor and advise engineers within your pod.
• Build engineering execution plans, break down and assign work to the team.

Requirements

• 5-8+ years of a strong engineering background, including an individual contributor role.
• 3+ years of proven experience leading successful engineering teams.
• Strong Javascript skills and solid knowledge of developing backend applications.
• Demonstrated ability to ship high-quality products.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and diligent work ethic with excellent communication skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity and eagerness to embrace ownership and accountability.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, MS/PhD.
• Expert in Python with knowledge of industry-standard frameworks like Django or Flask.
• Experience using Docker and cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Strong database design skills.
