Location: Remote with availability for synchronous work between UTC-6 to UTC-3 time zones

Salary: $132,439–$208,378 (US-based applicants, adjusted for other countries)

What you will do

  • Manage one to two globally distributed SRE teams, providing mentorship and support
  • Set individual performance goals and support career development
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members
  • Coordinate with Wikimedia product and engineering teams on projects and strategy
  • Lead incident response and 24/7 on-call rotations for production infrastructure
  • Define and execute team processes and service level objectives

Requirements

  • Must be available for critical meetings and synchronous work between UTC-6 to UTC-3 time zones
  • Prior experience managing engineering teams and hands-on software or reliability engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, Linux, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Effective English communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Ability to work independently in a globally distributed remote team
  • Willingness to travel several times a year for in-person meetings
