What you will do

• Lead the Gateway team to deliver best-in-class traffic management infrastructure.
• Drive design and implementation of major "Moonshot" initiatives.
• Lead consolidation of ingress stack from NGINX to Envoy and platformize the gateway for extensibility.
• Own reliability of Tier-0 systems.
• Mentor engineers and team leads, ensuring sustainable on-call rotations and career growth.

Requirements

• Location: Based in or near San Mateo, CA, United States with hybrid onsite work.
• 3+ years engineering management experience managing teams for high-scale distributed systems or networking platforms.
• Strong technical background in Layer 7 networking, HTTP/HTTPS, reverse proxies (Envoy, NGINX), and API gateway patterns.
• Experience leading architectural migrations such as monolith to microservices or legacy proxy to modern mesh/gateway.
• Proven ability to hire and nurture high-performing engineering teams.
• Excellent communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and manage complex product requirements.
