Senior Data Scientist (Online Gaming)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; hybrid work with office attendance 2–3 times per week.

Base salary: $140,000–$180,000 annually.

What you will do

• Apply quantitative analysis, data visualization, and data mining to identify insights and communicate the story behind data to partners and leadership.
• Build and evaluate machine learning models and statistical methods that provide recommendations and solve business problems.
• Develop scalable, automated processes for large-scale data extraction, model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Research machine learning, data mining, statistical modeling, and language-model solutions to understand player acquisition, retention, monetization, and other game-business behaviors.
• Document models and analytical results, present findings clearly, and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, engineers, business teams, security, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and scientists and lead improvements to the team’s processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist or in a related field; advanced degrees may substitute for part of the required experience.
• BS in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Expertise in machine learning and statistical analysis, including classification, clustering, regression, statistical inference, collaborative filtering, natural language processing, experimental design, and social-network analysis.
• Experience managing advanced analytics projects involving complex analytical problems, data exploration, and analysis.
• Experience working with unstructured data such as text, logs, JSON, and images.
• Expertise in evaluating, automating, deploying, and monitoring models in production systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, innovation, and initiative skills, with strong statistical-methods knowledge including hypothesis testing and time-series modeling.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, plus familiarity with Jupyter Notebook, modern data platforms, and cloud systems such as Snowflake and AWS.
• Passion for understanding customer behavior on-platform and in-game.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
• Professional large language model and MLOps experience.
• Online gaming experience.
