Field Engineer

TL;DR

Field Engineer (Data Infrastructure): Lead technical discovery, demos, POVs, and onboarding for customers using hirify.global’s real-time SQL data platform with an accent on modern data architectures, event streaming, and cloud infrastructure. Focus on designing tailored proofs-of-value, guiding production workloads, and building repeatable demo assets to scale customer adoption.

Location: NYC (hybrid, minimum 3 days/week in HQ); also Bay Area, California; New York, New York; Seattle, Washington.

Salary: $145,000 - $160,000/year plus variable bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead technical discovery and assess use case fit using qualification frameworks.
• Design and deliver tailored demos and time-boxed POVs with success criteria.
• Explain architecture and positioning against alternatives like Flink, Snowflake, and Databricks.
• Partner with sales on deal strategy, qualification, and execution.
• Guide customers from closed-won to production workloads and provide architectural support.
• Monitor usage, surface expansion opportunities, and participate in reviews.
• Build repeatable assets like demo environments and discovery playbooks.

Requirements

• 4+ years in customer-facing technical role (Field/Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting, Solutions Architecture)
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures: relational databases, event streaming, microservices.
• Proficiency with SQL and query performance reasoning.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerized environments.
• Strong communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Structured, process-oriented mindset with startup flexibility.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time/streaming systems (Kafka, Flink, Spark).
• Background in data infrastructure, developer tools, or technical consulting.
• Scripting in Python, Go, or similar.
