Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: New York City office; hybrid work

Salary: $131,000–$169,000 per year

What you will do

• Own large-scale projects from discovery through launch, focusing on outcomes and customer impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to solve customer challenges.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.
• Expand high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
• Enhance testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment infrastructure.
• Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in server-side languages such as Python, Java, Node, or Ruby.
• Solid SQL skills and understanding of database fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including basic deployment and monitoring.
• Experience collaborating with designers and product managers on feature development.
• Interest in supporting junior developers and contributing to team knowledge sharing.
