Focus on defining and delivering technology strategy, setting architecture roadmaps, and influencing decision-making at senior levels.

Location: Hybrid working, requiring at least two days per week, or 40% of time, in one of the office sites: Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, or Halifax. Must be based in the UK.

Salary: £90,400 - £106,400

What you will do

• Lead the definition and delivery of technology strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders.
• Set and maintain architecture roadmaps, guardrails, and patterns.
• Provide strategic oversight and governance for major transformation initiatives.
• Mentor and develop a team of architects.
• Represent architecture in executive forums, influencing decision-making.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
• Strategic experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), hybrid hosting, and modern architectures.
• Strong background in API design, microservices, modular applications, and data strategies.
• Proven ability to set architectural vision and influence at senior levels.
• Experience leading and mentoring architecture teams.
• Strong track record of driving technology strategy and transformation.

Nice to have

• Deep industry insight into banking or financial services, with an understanding of regulatory and market dynamics.
• Expertise in resilience and continuity, including disaster recovery and business/service continuity planning.
• Payments experience, covering modern payment platforms, schemes, and integration strategies.
• Strong data capabilities, particularly in data architecture and ETL processes.
