Staff Software Engineer, Embedded

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California, with an office in Mountain View, CA

Salary: $150,000–$210,000 USD base salary annually, plus equity, bonuses, and benefits.

What you will do

• Collaborate with hardware electrical engineers on the design and testing of reliable hardware systems.
• Work with software engineers on architecture, optimization, code reviews, and hardware specifications.
• Bring up and debug embedded hardware in the engineering lab using analyzers and probes.
• Debug vehicle functions including driver interfaces, braking, and steering.
• Develop C/C++ software for x86 and ARM embedded platforms.
• Develop software for cameras, radar, lidar, IMU, network devices, and time synchronization systems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software development experience, ideally in automotive, aerospace, or a related industry.
• Strong C++ programming experience and knowledge of embedded programming platforms.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals and high-speed communication including PCIe and Automotive Ethernet.
• Experience debugging low-level hardware buses such as I2C, CAN, SPI, and UART on vehicles.
• Hands-on experience analyzing hardware subsystems and writing clear technical documentation.
• BS or MS degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
