Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, UK; hybrid work with attendance at the London office 2–3 days per week. Working from abroad is available for up to 120 days per year, subject to having the right to work in the country of choice.

What you will do

• Build and ship customer-focused products and services for the Cards Engineering department.
• Design, develop, and operate large-scale distributed software systems with complex topologies.
• Work with Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, and other modern technologies.
• Apply test-driven or behaviour-driven development practices to maintain a high standard of quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and solve complex problems.
• Take operational ownership of services beyond feature delivery and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience building distributed systems at scale with proven scalability and complex topologies.
• Strong commitment to test-driven development or behaviour-driven development.
• Product-focused engineering mindset and ability to understand business problems beyond written requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving and uncertain environment.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setup from London, attending the office 2–3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech or banking.
• Willingness to learn technologies not already covered in the existing toolkit.
