Back End Developer (Java/Blockchain)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for blockchain and distributed ledger solutions.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs, microservices, workflow integrations, and blockchain interactions.
• Implement smart contract integrations and blockchain-specific backend components with architecture stakeholders.
• Develop database schemas, manage migrations, and optimise queries for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability while troubleshooting complex backend issues.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and document technical specifications and system designs.

Requirements

• Strong experience in backend Java development.
• Proficiency with RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, databases, and query optimisation.
• Knowledge of authentication, encryption, and backend security practices.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with blockchain or DLT platforms such as Ethereum, Hyperledger, or Corda.
• Experience with Web3j, event-driven architectures, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with financial services applications, DevOps, infrastructure automation, monitoring, Agile, Camunda, or Activiti.
