Staff Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Washington, D.C.; must be located in Washington, D.C. and open to working in office

Salary: $200,000–$275,000 USD annually, plus benefits, potential equity, and potential bonus

What you will do

• Lead major engineering projects and take ownership of features from design through delivery.
• Build robust, scalable systems for real-time collaboration, detailed maps, and high-scale data ingestion.
• Drive technical decision-making and align engineering execution with business priorities.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing engineering team while maintaining strong technical standards.
• Collaborate with design, product management, deployment teams, engineers, and users to solve complex problems.
• Deliver production capabilities that support emergency response, public safety, and other customer workflows.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience working with cross-functional software development teams.
• Professional or open-source experience shipping and iterating on production-grade software.
• Ability to write robust, well-tested, well-designed code for frequent deployment.
• Strong understanding of architecting and scaling distributed software systems and navigating large codebases.
• Located in Washington, D.C. and open to working in office.
