TL;DR

Engineering Manager (Data Services): Building and leading an engineering team focused on self-served, exa-byte scale Data Services for ingestion, stream data processing, and serving. Focus on setting a high technical bar, championing leadership principles, and driving the delivery of innovative products.

Location: Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted). For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA

Salary: $289,460—$338,270 USD

What you will do

• Attract, hire, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of exceptional engineers, and cultivate a collaborative and inclusive environment.
• Establish and maintain a high standard for technical excellence and ensure the team delivers reliable, scalable, and secure solutions.
• Partner with product managers, data engineers, data scientists and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to the overall engineering strategy, identify opportunities for innovation and growth, and prioritize projects that deliver the most value to users.
• Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team, encouraging experimentation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading and scaling engineering teams, ideally in a high-growth environment.
• 2+ years of experience in engineering management - setting roadmap, charter, vision, key metrics for the engineering team.
• 8+ years of experience with big data tools and technologies like Kafka, Flink, Druid, Spark, optimized Sql, Map Reduce, HDFS, Hive.
• Experience with programming languages like Golang, Java, Python, Helm, Terraform.
• Experience working with Cloud providers like AWS - S3, EMR, EKS.
• Strong alignment with hirify.global's leadership principles, including a focus on respect, safety, creativity, and community.

Nice to have

• A graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is a plus.
