What you will do

• Design the current and future architecture of the Google Cloud data platform and support its data mesh model.
• Create architectural documentation, diagrams, standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
• Design governed, secure, scalable, observable, interoperable, and trustworthy data products.
• Design batch, event-driven, and streaming data pipelines.
• Evaluate tools, infrastructure, and services, advising on data strategy, platform direction, and roadmap trade-offs.
• Partner with domain squads and mentor engineers and analysts in data modelling, integration, and architecture practices.

Requirements

• Experience as a Data Solutions Architect or in a similar role with a strong track record.
• Hands-on cloud platform expertise across Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or AWS.
• Good understanding of Google BigQuery and expertise in data platform architecture, configuration, and optimisation, particularly MPP databases such as BigQuery.
• Strong knowledge of data mesh principles, database design, data warehousing, and ETL/ELT processes.
• Knowledge of data security and GDPR requirements.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to identify improvement opportunities and document proposals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical solutions to engineers and non-technical executives.
• Leadership, ownership, collaboration, innovation, and mentoring skills.
• A basic DBS check is mandatory.
