Data Architect (Google Cloud)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture and evolutionary roadmap for the enterprise data platform on Google Cloud.
• Prototype reference architectures, write SQL and Python, build proofs of concept, model core entities, and support complex design and code reviews.
• Define a shared business vocabulary and conformed enterprise data model across Energy, Broadband, Mobile, and Insurance.
• Design AI-ready semantic layers, metadata, retrieval interfaces, and secure access patterns for GenAI models and autonomous AI agents.
• Embed automated data quality, lineage, access controls, masking, privacy, and data contracts into platform infrastructure.
• Establish architecture decision records, Golden Path templates, integration contracts, and schema evolution standards.

Requirements

• Experience across data engineering, data platforms, or data architecture, including leading the design of end-to-end modern data platforms or lakehouses.
• Deep understanding of open lakehouse design and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
• Hands-on experience with Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modelling, entity-centric models, and domain-driven design, with judgment to select the appropriate pattern.
• Strong hands-on SQL and Python skills for proofs of concept and production code review.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses, ideally Google Cloud services including BigQuery, BigLake, Dataplex, Dataproc, and Vertex AI.
• Experience designing operational pipelines and change-data-capture using streaming technologies such as Pub/Sub, Dataflow, or Kafka.
• Practical experience with data governance, metadata lineage, quality checks, access control, privacy-by-design, CI/CD, Git workflows, and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing data infrastructure for GenAI and agentic AI, including semantic layers, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, knowledge graphs, or Model Context Protocol.
