Senior Hardware Designer (Embedded Hardware)

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 91,700–122,300 annually, plus bonus opportunity.

What you will do

• Engineer, design, develop, and test new embedded hardware products.
• Support and enhance existing embedded hardware.
• Analyze requirements, research solutions, and develop hardware designs.
• Produce accurate user, design, and manufacturing technical documentation.
• Contribute to architecture and design reviews, technology evaluations, and process improvements.
• Monitor embedded hardware trends and share technical knowledge within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, or mechatronics engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of board-level development and hands-on laboratory experience; co-op experience is applicable.
• Strong understanding of electronics and engineering principles, with strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and familiarity with product development processes.
• Familiarity with hardware test equipment, including logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Familiarity with high-speed digital circuit board design, including signal integrity concepts.
• Experience with requirements capture, analysis, and tracking.
• Strong written and verbal communication, ownership, accountability, quality focus, and commitment to deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with design capture tools, preferably Mentor Graphics.
• Hobby projects using Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino.
• Familiarity with FPGAs.
• Passion for following current computing trends.
