Software Design/Engineer - New Grad (Embedded Systems)

Location: Ottawa, Canada

Salary: CAD 72,000–115,000 annual pay range.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for next-generation optical network platforms.
• Participate in requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance across the software development lifecycle.
• Design and develop unit tests and test-automation suites.
• Troubleshoot software issues and identify root causes with hardware, software, and systems engineers.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Previous internship, co-op, or relevant applied project experience.
• Software development expertise, particularly with large-scale, real-time embedded systems or solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple parallel priorities and learn quickly.
• Excellent debugging skills and verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with a Linux development environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiprocessor, highly concurrent systems, including mutual exclusion, synchronization, interrupt handling, and inter-process communication.
• Expertise in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience building APIs and services with REST or SOAP.
• Experience with automated test frameworks such as Jenkins.
• Experience with Scrum or Agile methodologies.
• Experience with Git, Eclipse, JIRA, GDB, Yocto, or similar design and development tools.
