Data Center Hardware Technician (AI)

Location: On-site at the Lockport, New York facility in the United States; 24x7x365 shift rotations, including swing and overnight shifts, are required.

Salary: $59,250–$123,125 per year, with potential discretionary annual bonus or commissions.

What you will do

• Maintain and repair rack-mount servers, storage units, and network equipment to support high uptime.
• Prioritize operational requests and troubleshoot hardware, Layer 1–3 networking, systems, cabling, and related infrastructure issues.
• Use AI-assisted log analysis and diagnostic tools to isolate hardware faults and reduce mean time to repair.
• Identify repetitive maintenance tasks and automate workflows using AI coding tools, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• Deploy operating systems, update DNS records, configure network switches, and manage host provisioning with in-house tools.
• Coordinate complex changes with site engineering and platform infrastructure teams and provide incident and ticket updates to internal technical contacts.

Requirements

• Two-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments, including file-system navigation, permissions analysis, and system administration commands.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks, Layer 1–3 switching, routing protocols, and structured cabling.
• Basic proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for system administration.
• Familiarity with AI tools or LLM prompts for generating CLI commands, parsing logs, or debugging basic diagnostic scripts.
• Physical ability to lift hardware, climb ladders, and work in elevated data center temperatures.
• Ability to work on-site at the Lockport, NY facility and participate in scheduled 24x7x365 shift rotations.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience managing and testing fiber physical plant infrastructure.
• Experience developing custom Bash or Python automation scripts for infrastructure at scale.
• Experience with AI-driven monitoring or anomaly detection tools in a production data center.
