Principal Product Manager - Internal Developer Platform (AI)

What you will do

• Build the internal developer platform from the ground up for developers, architects, platform engineers, system administrators, and implementation teams.
• Lead customer discovery, develop named stakeholder relationships, identify workflow friction and adoption barriers, and turn evidence into an outcome-driven roadmap.
• Own product problems, customers, outcomes, requirements, acceptance criteria, prioritization, and trade-off decisions at programme or product-line level.
• Improve developer experience across APIs, SDKs, documentation, onboarding, service catalogues, templates, scaffolders, and adoption.
• Partner with architects and engineers on build-versus-buy, scalability, extensibility, and the governance of capabilities exposed to AI agents.
• Use AI in discovery, analysis, and documentation; coach and mentor other product managers and raise product-management standards.

Requirements

• Genuine product mindset focused on customer outcomes, adoption, and business value rather than features or technology alone.
• Deep experience advocating for developers, architects, and platform engineers and changing product direction based on their feedback.
• Substantial product-management experience in B2B enterprise, platform, developer, or infrastructure products, with independent ownership of outcomes at programme or product-line level.
• Proven customer-discovery and co-creation skills, including turning evidence into clear roadmaps and requirements.
• Technical fluency sufficient to read APIs, schemas, logs, and code and understand their impact; production coding is not required.
• Ability to make prioritization and trade-off decisions and align engineers, architects, and senior stakeholders without formal authority.
• Excellent communication skills for translating technical complexity into business language, business strategy into product direction, and presenting to leadership.
• Experience coaching or mentoring other product managers and establishing standards adopted by the team.
• AI-first working approach with sound judgment about where AI is and is not useful.
• Experience must include shipping developer-facing products or tools that developers actually use, such as a portal, service catalogue, templates, scaffolders, SDKs, or developer documentation; operating models, roadmaps, or investment cases alone are insufficient.
• Applications should specify any developer portal operated, what it contained, what developers could do independently, adoption numbers, adoption changes, and time-to-delivery before and after.
• This is not an identity and access management role or a customer-facing product role.
