Principal Application Engineer (Salesforce)

Location: Hybrid in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; candidates must reside within commutable distance of the specified office and attend regular in-office events.

Salary: CAD 135,300–169,100 per year

What you will do

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Salesforce, NetSuite, Billing Platform, and connected enterprise applications.
• Design, develop, debug, test, monitor, and automate complex production-grade applications using Apex, JavaScript, SuiteScript, Python, and related tools.
• Translate strategic business objectives into scalable technical solutions, simplify architecture, modernize integrations, and reduce technical debt.
• Build regression test automation in Copado and guide the team on test-driven validation and verification.
• Embed AI workflows and agents, and lead experimentation and integration of AI and automation tools.
• Coach engineers, review and approve pull requests, establish engineering standards, coordinate vendors, and support high-complexity incident resolution.

Requirements

• Principal-level mastery of application development from design and implementation through monitoring and operational support.
• Expertise with core applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite, or Billing Platform, sufficient to serve as an internal subject matter expert and mentor others.
• Experience producing clean, efficient code in Apex, JavaScript, SuiteScript, Python, or comparable application languages.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and deliver resilient long-term fixes.
• Experience with application integrations, scalable solution architecture, automation, testing, and DevOps practices.
• Strong collaboration skills with business stakeholders, senior leadership, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, lead enterprise-wide initiatives, and act as a backup for the manager when required.

Nice to have

• Experience working on a SaaS product and with SaaS product development.
• Deep experience with Salesforce Lightning Design System or React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.
• Deep experience with Service-Oriented Architecture.
• Experience with SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect authentication and authorization.
• Working experience with SQL and on-call responsibilities for production-grade systems.
• Understanding of how to address team dysfunctions involving trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results.
