Senior Project Engineer (Pharmaceutical Packaging)

Location: Haarlem, North Holland, Netherlands; on-site at the Haarlem site

hirify.global develops and supplies pharmaceutical products, with the Packaging Technical Operations team supporting packaging and device assembly equipment, technology transfers, and lifecycle management.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end packaging and device assembly projects, including technology transfers, capital investments, process improvements, and new product introductions.
• Drive design, engineering, qualification, startup, validation, and project closeout while maintaining GMP, safety, and quality compliance.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, vendors, contractors, equipment suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Prepare business cases, capital requests, feasibility studies, engineering trials, machineability assessments, and risk evaluations.
• Act as the equipment subject matter expert for startup, troubleshooting, process robustness, audits, and quality risk assessments.
• Collaborate with global and site teams, suppliers, and OEM partners; mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering, packaging technology, process technology, automation, or capital project execution.
• Proven experience leading medium-to-large engineering projects from concept through implementation.
• Strong project management, stakeholder management, influence, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing external vendors, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
• Knowledge of GMP-regulated manufacturing environments, ideally in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotech, food, or chemical industries.
• Fluent English communication skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively in international, cross-functional teams.
