Cloud Systems Engineer (Active Directory and Windows)

What you will do

• Administer and maintain cloud-hosted Active Directory Domain Services and Windows Server environments across Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• Design and support identity integrations among Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, AWS services, Keycloak, and AppGate.
• Manage directory objects, organizational units, Group Policy, DNS, domain controllers, trusts, authentication, authorization, and privileged access controls.
• Build, configure, patch, harden, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows Server, desktop, and Azure Virtual Desktop workloads.
• Automate administration and configuration with PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code tools while applying security baselines, vulnerability remediation, logging, and audit controls.
• Develop backup, recovery, business continuity, documentation, change management, and incident response procedures while collaborating with cloud, security, and application teams.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen and active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience, or a high school diploma and 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain DoD 8140 IAT Level II Security+ or higher within 60 days of hire.
• Production experience administering Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services and Windows Server, including DNS, Group Policy, domain controllers, directory replication, OU and site design, authentication, and access management.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, synchronization or identity integration, single sign-on, enterprise applications, and conditional access.
• Experience using PowerShell for administration and automation and supporting Windows workloads in Azure or AWS.
• Experience building, maintaining, patching, versioning, and deploying Windows images, including AWS AMIs and custom Azure virtual machine images.
• Experience applying DoD STIGs, validating compliance, remediating findings, and documenting approved exceptions.
• Experience designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Azure Virtual Desktop environments, including host pools, session hosts, application groups, workspaces, user access, images, patching, testing, and deployment.
• Hands-on experience with cloud networking concepts, FSLogix profile containers, user profile and sign-in troubleshooting, identity and connectivity issues, and AVD performance, availability, capacity, and user experience.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, documentation, and stakeholder management skills across infrastructure, security, application, and executive teams.

Nice to have

• Experience configuring autoscaling or host-pool scaling for Azure Virtual Desktop.
