Systems Administrator (Windows Server)

Location: Remote in the United States with periodic on-site travel to client facilities approximately 1–2 times per month; hybrid remote work in Charleston, SC 29417

What you will do

• Monitor, patch, and maintain Windows Server environments, virtual infrastructure, storage, and endpoints.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, user access, and permissions.
• Troubleshoot switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, connectivity issues, and endpoint hardware.
• Monitor and validate backups, perform test restores, and maintain disaster recovery documentation.
• Apply security updates, assist with vulnerability remediation, and follow infrastructure requests through change control.
• Maintain SOPs, network diagrams, asset inventories, configurations, and troubleshooting records while communicating with technical teams and client stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of systems administration experience in a professional IT environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, or Proxmox.
• Understanding of VLANs, VPNs, firewall rules, switch configuration, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with Veeam, Azure Backup, or a similar backup and recovery platform.
• Ability to use PowerShell for routine administration and automation.
• Strong documentation, communication, organizational, and independent workload-management skills.
• Ability to travel to client facilities approximately 1–2 times per month and be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. Citizen.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated environments or with GxP, HIPAA, CMMC, or SOC 2.
• Experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing, life sciences, or other industries with formal quality systems.
• Familiarity with formal change management, incident management, or ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.
• Microsoft 365 and Entra ID / Azure AD administration experience.
• CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft infrastructure certifications.
