Senior Manager, Accounting (Defense-Tech)

Location: San Diego, California, US; hybrid workplace

Salary: USD 139,040–208,560 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Lead global accounting operations, including monthly and quarterly close consolidation, general ledger accounting, accruals, project accounting, capital projects, reconciliations, and cash activities.
• Drive accurate, scalable close and reporting processes across domestic and international entities in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Program Finance, Operations, and international business teams.
• Develop and improve accounting policies, internal controls, governance frameworks, process documentation, and audit readiness for future SOX compliance and public-company readiness.
• Lead ERP enhancements, accounting system implementations, reporting automation, and finance infrastructure scaling.
• Support audits, statutory reporting, external advisors, special projects, and team development while resolving complex accounting and operational issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Accounting is preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a high-growth, complex operating environment.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal control frameworks; SOX readiness or compliance experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience leading complex close processes across multiple entities and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience driving process improvement, operational scalability, systems optimization, process documentation, control implementation, and audit activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, project management, organizational, communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, operate independently, demonstrate ownership, and navigate ambiguity.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with modern ERP systems.

• Active CPA license.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology company.
• Familiarity with project-based accounting and government contracting environments.
• Experience with ERP implementations, finance transformation, or accounting automation projects.
• Leadership experience mentoring or managing team members and influencing cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience supporting IPO readiness, public-company reporting, or enhanced compliance environments.
