Senior Accounting Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Hybrid role based in Herndon, Virginia, with at least two days per week in the office. Candidates must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Salary: $135,000–$155,000 per year in Herndon, VA.

What you will do

• Manage monthly and quarterly operational accounting and close activities.
• Prepare and review technical accounting policies and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and public-company standards.
• Maintain, test, and document internal financial controls under SOX requirements.
• Coordinate external audits, prepare supporting documentation, and work with public auditors.
• Supervise, mentor, and review staff and senior accountants while leading day-to-day accounting operations.
• Improve accounting processes, financial applications, fixed-asset accounting, and automation in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least eight years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at a Big Four public accounting firm or a public company.
• Deep and advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, ERP systems, and SEC rules and regulations.
• Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, and independent-working skills, with good judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet strict monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines while ensuring complete and accurate deliverables.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with customers, vendors, cross-functional partners, and suppliers.
• Experience maintaining confidentiality, exercising impeccable ethics, and handling employee information with discretion.
• Passion for developing and motivating team members and direct reports.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.

• Previous experience with Deltek Costpoint.
