Company

hirify.global provides managed technology and infrastructure services for customer environments, including regulated and mission-critical workloads.

What you will do

  • Act as the Linux technical authority and final escalation point across large enterprise estates.
  • Design, validate and maintain secure RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux and SUSE baselines aligned with CIS, STIGs or equivalent standards.
  • Own major incidents, complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across kernels, networking, storage, filesystems, authentication, applications and clusters.
  • Design and support Pacemaker, Corosync, DRBD, fencing, quorum, failover, disaster recovery and shared-storage solutions.
  • Lead capacity planning, kernel and workload tuning, patching, vulnerability remediation, lifecycle planning and platform modernisation.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, compliance, patching and reporting with Bash, Python, Ansible, Puppet or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tools; mentor junior engineers and advise security, compliance and customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years administering and engineering Linux in enterprise, mission-critical or regulated environments, with deep expertise in RHEL, CentOS, Oracle Linux or SUSE and ownership of complex production outcomes.
  • Expert troubleshooting across kernel, system, networking, storage, filesystems, authentication and application dependencies, including crash, strace, perf, ftrace, SystemTap, tcpdump, blktrace, journalctl, dmesg and sar.
  • Deep expertise designing and troubleshooting high availability with Pacemaker, Corosync, DRBD, fencing/STONITH, quorum management, resource agents, failover testing and split-brain prevention.
  • Expert integration and troubleshooting of Fibre Channel SAN, iSCSI, DM-Multipath, NFS and GFS2/OCFS2 storage.
  • Advanced performance optimisation using sysctl, I/O schedulers, hugepages, swappiness, OOM, NUMA, cgroups, resource limits and network tuning.
  • Experience with CIS/STIG-aligned or equivalent secure OS baselines, SELinux/AppArmor, FIPS, auditd and vulnerability remediation.
  • Experience overseeing regulated patching and security errata through Red Hat Satellite, SUSE Manager or equivalent.
  • Advanced Bash/Python scripting and Ansible, Puppet, Chef or SaltStack for provisioning, configuration enforcement, compliance, patch orchestration and reporting.
  • Strong Linux networking and ITIL Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management knowledge, including major-incident ownership, high-risk change approval, CMDB accuracy, mentoring and audit-ready documentation.
  • Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom and meet applicable UK Government and contractual personnel security, residency and potentially nationality requirements.

Nice to have

  • RHCE, RHCA, Red Hat Specialist, SUSE Certified Engineer or equivalent advanced Linux certification; ITIL 4 Foundation or higher.
  • Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS EC2, Azure VMs, GCP Compute Engine, Linux disaster recovery and RTO/RPO experience.
  • Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, CI/CD, GitOps and DevOps experience.
  • Platform modernisation, immutable infrastructure, distribution migrations and knowledge of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST or JSP 440/604.

Culture & Benefits
