Pay range: $92,300–$166,850 annually

What you will do

• Translate written materials between Chinese and English while preserving meaning, tone, terminology, and cultural context.
• Provide consecutive and, when required, simultaneous interpretation for meetings, interviews, briefings, and operational activities.
• Transcribe audio, video, and internet-based foreign-language content and produce English-language reports.
• Identify, extract, and summarize key facts, themes, and operationally significant intelligence from large volumes of material.
• Use research tools and reference materials to produce accurate linguistic deliverables.

Requirements

• An active, fully adjudicated TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required before work begins.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• At least 3 years of recent professional experience in translation, interpretation, transcription, or a combination of these disciplines.
• Professional interpretation skills and the ability to perform written and spoken Chinese-English language tasks at a professional level.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and basic online research tools.
• Successful completion of an English language assessment, a Senior or Expert target-language proficiency assessment, professional interpretation testing, and any applicable customer-specific language tests.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting contingency operations as a deployed linguist.
• Familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, military operations, or law enforcement environments.
• Experience providing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation in professional settings.
• Ability to brief customers, present information clearly, and communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with Human Language Technology tools and applications.
