Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote Europe; remote positions listed in the United Kingdom and Spain

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, reverse engineer, maintain, and develop production applications, databases, data import/export tools, and editorial tools.
• Use AI-powered tools and techniques to accelerate software understanding, code analysis, documentation, efficiency, and innovation.
• Provide third-level support for production applications, tools, and data processes.
• Develop new applications and tools with the New Development Manager.
• Architect solutions aligned with technical goals and strategic business requirements.
• Implement security measures, minimum-privilege principles, industry best practices, complete documentation, and full lifecycle support.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement, decision-making ability, and the ability to apply theory to practical solutions.
• Strong C#/.NET development experience across ASP.NET Core with Razor Pages and MVC on .NET 8 and .NET 10, plus legacy ASP.NET MVC 5, Web API 2, WebForms, and WinForms on .NET Framework 4.8.
• Ability to read, maintain, and help modernize legacy Visual Basic 6 and Classic ASP/VBScript applications.
• Solid SQL Server experience with stored-procedure-based access using ADO.NET/Dapper and Entity Framework Core, including working without an ORM when required.
• Experience with, or genuine willingness to learn, Docker on Linux and AWS services including ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3, Systems Manager/Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
• Experience writing automated tests with xUnit/NUnit and Moq, including integration and regression or golden-file test suites for business-critical systems.
• Understanding of XML, SOAP, and REST-based B2B integrations and partner or insurer messaging protocols.
• Knowledge of Git/GitLab source control and familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience migrating VB6/COM systems to .NET.
• Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform.
• Knowledge of Spanish and/or German.
• ITIL knowledge, ideally at ITIL Foundation level.
• Basic knowledge of ISO 27001 and information security practices.
• Knowledge or experience of Test-Driven Development.
