Backend Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Architect, build, and scale backend services and REST APIs using C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core.
• Integrate backend systems with legacy platforms, third-party APIs, existing data models, and enterprise business domains.
• Apply agentic AI development practices, including AI-assisted coding, automated code review, test generation, and deployment validation in CI/CD workflows.
• Design APIs and services supporting LLM-powered experiences, streaming responses, multi-agent orchestration, RAG pipelines, and real-time data needs.
• Translate business requirements into technical architectures and deliver solutions from scoping and prototyping through production deployment.
• Improve Azure DevOps build and release pipelines, document deployment learnings, and troubleshoot environments, deployments, APIs, and databases.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core; experience should focus on modern .NET rather than primarily legacy .NET Framework.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and agentic development tools as a core part of the software development lifecycle, including agentic workflows in CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing, building, and integrating REST APIs with authentication and authorization, error handling, versioning, and JSON communication with third-party and legacy systems.
• Practical SQL Server experience covering query optimization, stored procedures where appropriate, Entity Framework/Core, and complex existing data models.
• Azure experience with App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, Storage, Application Insights, Azure SQL, and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and environment configuration.
• Experience with large enterprise-scale applications, multiple business-domain integrations, legacy systems, and outdated APIs.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems, including messaging, event-driven patterns, asynchronous processing, retries, and resiliency.
• Experience applying SOLID principles, dependency injection, repository/service patterns, clean architecture, automated unit and integration testing, mocking, code reviews, refactoring, and technical-debt management.
• Knowledge of secure API development, secrets management, authentication and authorization, OWASP vulnerabilities, logging, monitoring, telemetry, and production diagnosis.
• Ability to understand and modernize complex existing enterprise systems without assuming they require complete rewrites.
• Degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informatics, Data Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with xUnit, NUnit, MSTest, Moq, or similar backend testing and mocking tools.
• Experience using AI agents for automated code review, test generation, or refactoring.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and asynchronous processing patterns.
• A T-shaped profile combining deep backend expertise with agentic AI development practices and enterprise consulting.
• Contributions to core AI platforms, open-source repositories, or internal frameworks.
• Experience modernizing or incrementally improving existing backend systems.
• Active certifications in backend frameworks, cloud platforms, or AI-assisted development; a Master's degree or higher in a related technical discipline.
