Software Engineer (AI/LLM)

Location: Kraków first; hybrid or remote from anywhere in Poland

What you will do

• Work directly with client engineering and product teams to understand business requirements, architect solutions, and own delivery through production.
• Drive complex system development using coding agents, decompose architectural specifications into agent-executable tasks, and run work in parallel under strict quality control.
• Review generated implementations and design tests, evaluations, and runtime checks that detect edge cases and silent failures.
• Make foundational decisions about data models, integration boundaries, security parameters, and trade-offs, documenting them for human and synthetic contributors.
• Share workflows, evaluation methods, and agent-orchestration patterns, and contribute to Upside’s open-source frameworks.

Requirements

• Proven background as a Software Engineer building, architecting, and owning complex backend or cloud systems end-to-end.
• Production experience with LLM coding agents applied to production-grade software engineering.
• Hands-on experience shipping or integrating LLM-powered and agentic components into production software systems.
• Comfort with changing requirements, tools, and domain contexts, with ownership from initial problem discovery through post-launch stability.
• Strong client-facing communication, including explaining architectural trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong Python skills, or deep experience in Ruby, Java, TypeScript, or Rust with readiness to pivot to Python quickly.
• Fluent English at C1+ level is required for direct collaboration with international clients.
• A university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is highly valued.

Nice to have

• Frontend experience with React or Vue.
• Cloud and infrastructure experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Contributions to open-source tools or libraries.
