TL;DR
Source Application Intern (Quantum Computing) (Quantum Optics/Spin Control): Investigating dynamical decoupling techniques for semiconductor quantum dots to extend spin coherence and support spin–photon entanglement protocols with an accent on experimental quantum optics, coherent spin control, and data analysis. Focus on implementing and optimizing CPMG-family sequences, analyzing coherence times, and identifying decoherence and control errors in quantum information experiments.

Location: Massy or Palaiseau, Île-de-France, France; onsite workplace with a possibility of remote work.

Internship allowance: €1,200–€1,400 per month.

Company

hirify.global develops quantum computing hardware and software solutions, including semiconductor quantum light sources, with a focus on scalable and energy-efficient quantum infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Characterize spin coherence in semiconductor quantum dots.
  • Implement and optimize dynamical decoupling sequences, including CPMG-family sequences.
  • Investigate how pulse timing, rotation fidelity, and excitation conditions affect coherence preservation.
  • Analyze experimental data to extract coherence times and compare sequence performance.
  • Interpret results with scientists, identify decoherence sources and control errors, and assess compatibility with spin–photon entanglement protocols.
  • Document findings and contribute to robust spin-control protocols for quantum information experiments.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree or final-year engineering degree in physics, quantum technologies, photonics, or a related field.
  • Solid foundation in quantum mechanics.
  • Familiarity with quantum optics, spin physics, or coherent control.
  • Programming skills in Python or an equivalent language for data analysis and visualization.
  • Interest in hands-on experimental work involving lasers, optical alignment, and measurement automation.
  • Scientific curiosity, rigor, patience, and persistence in troubleshooting and experiment optimization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate results clearly, learn new techniques, and progressively take ownership of experimental tasks.
  • Good written and spoken English is required.
  • French is listed as a language requirement.

Nice to have

  • Previous laboratory experience in optics, spectroscopy, or experimental physics.
  • Experience with pulsed experiments, cryogenic systems, or semiconductor quantum dots.

Culture & Benefits

  • Swile meal-voucher card.
  • 50% participation in transportation costs.
  • Possibility of remote work.
  • 1.5 cumulative days off per month.
  • Challenging quantum-computing environment with opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
