Mgr Applied Science (Computer Vision)

Location: London, UK or Paris, France; hybrid with 3 days in the office. No relocation.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 6 Applied Scientists and define its roadmap with Product and Engineering leads.
• Train and evaluate vision-language models for document data extraction and efficient models under 5MB for mobile devices.
• Contribute hands-on to dataset creation, model training, evaluation code, and the regular development lifecycle.
• Track vision-language modeling and efficient ML research and translate findings into product opportunities.
• Advance research in document understanding, few-shot learning, distillation, quantisation, and active learning.
• Publish results in national and international conferences and scientific journals.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience leading a team of ML scientists or research engineers.
• 5+ years of industry experience as an individual contributor in an ML science team as an ML Scientist or Research Engineer.
• Strong experience in machine learning and computer vision.
• Strong record of delivering high-performance ML-driven products and deep understanding of machine learning theory.
• Strong coding skills in Python and PyTorch.
• Ability to provide scientific leadership, grow team members, and contribute directly through research and side projects.
• Ability to build durable cross-functional relationships with Product, Design, Engineering, and Analytics and deliver product and business impact.

Nice to have

• Technical experience in document understanding, vision-language modeling, few-shot learning, distillation, quantisation, or active learning.
• Publications at top-level machine learning conferences.
• Experience optimizing distributed training code.
• External contributions such as publications, talks, or open-source work.
