Quantum Error Correction Engineer - W/M

Location: Fully remote, with listed locations in Palaiseau/Massy, France; London, United Kingdom; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Sherbrooke and Montreal, Canada; and Berlin, Germany. Flexible face-to-face work is also available.

What you will do

• Select, adapt, and benchmark quantum error-correcting codes and protocols under realistic neutral-atom hardware constraints.
• Develop decoding approaches, noise models, logical error models, and error budgets using experimental data and internal emulators.
• Design and benchmark fault-tolerant logical operations and logical gate strategies.
• Provide QEC inputs to future QPU architectures, including layout, zoning, connectivity, and operation scheduling.
• Build and maintain numerical libraries, simulation tools, and emulators for QEC protocols.
• Write technical reports and scientific articles, contribute to patentable ideas, and represent hirify.global at conferences, workshops, and industry events.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computing, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of quantum error-correcting codes, decoding methods, and fault-tolerant protocols.
• Interest in neutral-atom platforms and ability to account for realistic hardware constraints in QEC studies.
• Strong scientific-computing programming skills, including Python, data analysis, and simulation workflows.
• High autonomy, rigor, prioritization, and ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work at the interface of theory, numerical simulation, and experimental constraints.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.
• Good written and spoken English.
