Photonic Integrated Circuit Designer Intern (Quantum Computing)

Location: Massy, Île-de-France, France; onsite workplace with a possibility of remote work.

What you will do

• Deepen understanding of existing photonic integrated circuit building blocks and explore new functionalities or tools.
• Develop advanced modelling approaches for testing and evaluate architectures for quantum processing units.
• Bridge the gap between fabrication and design in collaboration with external photonic foundries.
• Prepare photonic integrated circuit layouts and perform electromagnetic and thermal simulations.
• Support characterization and packaging of fabricated devices.

Requirements

• Be enrolled for the entire internship in an MSc in Physics, Telecom/Electronics Engineering, Photonics, Quantum Technologies, or a related field.
• An Internship Agreement is required.
• Minimum internship duration: 5 months; shorter internships are not accepted.
• General knowledge of integrated photonics modelling and layout.
• Experience with Python, Git, Lumerical, and simulation tools such as FDTD, mode solvers, and EME.
• Strong data analysis, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Strong communication skills in English and French.
• Ideal starting date: late Summer 2026.
