Electrical Engineering Design Manager (Power Generation)

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary electrical design execution from conceptual development through issued-for-construction documents across power generation, distribution, and industrial projects.
• Remain hands-on in developing design packages, one-lines, three-lines, breaker control diagrams, power plans, and systems plans.
• Provide technical review, quality oversight, workload planning, and day-to-day direction for electrical engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, architects, contractors, vendors, and internal discipline leaders on staffing, schedules, technical issues, and deliverables.
• Review vendor shop drawings and coordinate technical solutions for switchgear, transformers, PLC enclosures, microgrid controllers, and generation systems.
• Support proposal development, repeatable design practices, professional development, and growth of the Power Generation and Industrial practice.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–15 years of experience with complex electrical systems in the industrial and power generation sector.
• Experience leading electrical design teams, assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and mentoring junior engineers and designers.
• Experience developing electrical design packages from conceptual through IFC level, including protective devices and relays, instruments, transformers, breakers, alternators, grounding components, and power/control wiring.
• In-depth understanding of conduit, cable tray, and trench duct routing limitations for high-density power applications.
• Experience coordinating with vendor packagers to develop cost-effective and timely solutions for highly technical applications.
• ETAP or SKM modeling experience, including systems coordination, arc flash, grounding, and Neher-McGrath.
• Strong familiarity with IEEE, UL, NEMA, and NFPA standards for renewables, harmonics, generation, energy storage, hazardous areas, and industrial systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication, planning, organization, time management, independent working, and teamwork skills; willingness to take on new challenges.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10%.

Nice to have

• Registered Professional Engineering license.
• Experience with Revit.
