Manager, Electrical Engineering (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop the Electrical Engineering team across avionics, power distribution, electric propulsion and energy storage integration, actuation, harnessing, and board-level hardware.
• Set technical direction, priorities, deliverables, and milestones across multiple vehicle programs from development and testing through certification and production.
• Guide design reviews, safety assessments, technical risk discussions, and complex electrical design tradeoffs.
• Establish electrical engineering standards, documentation, review processes, and verification practices supporting certification, manufacturing, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with mechanical, embedded software, GNC, systems, certification, test, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
• Identify and resolve technical, schedule, resource, and supplier risks before they affect major milestones.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineers, including ownership of hiring, coaching, performance management, and team development.
• Deep technical expertise in at least two electrical engineering areas: avionics and data networks; low- and high-voltage power distribution; electric propulsion and energy storage integration; electromechanical actuation; or board-level hardware design.
• Working understanding of the remaining electrical disciplines, with systems-level judgment for design decisions, tradeoffs, and leadership across specialties.
• Experience developing safety-critical hardware, including system safety, design assurance, environmental qualification, and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with DO-160, ARP4754, FMEA, or equivalent safety-critical engineering approaches.
• Experience delivering electrical hardware from requirements and architecture through detailed design, integration, verification, environmental qualification, and production readiness in aerospace, maritime, automotive, or another safety-critical environment.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, software, systems, test, certification, and manufacturing teams.
• Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers to define requirements, evaluate designs, establish acceptance criteria, and resolve development and production issues.
• Ability to make thoughtful decisions with incomplete information and work hands-on with the team during integration and testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with eVTOL, UAV, electric marine vessels, or other emerging vehicle platforms.
• Hands-on experience designing electrical harnesses, PCBs, or custom electronic hardware, plus familiarity with PLM and requirements management tools.
• Pilot's license, boating experience, or personal interest in aviation, maritime technology, or electric transportation.
