Software Engineer - Agentic Systems (AI)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid setup with two office days per week

What you will do

• Design, build, test, document, and ship AI products for the software development lifecycle.
• Develop AI support across requirements, specification, coding, review, release, and operations.
• Shape architecture and technical direction through specifications and design decisions.
• Maintain reliable, secure, and trustworthy production systems.
• Improve the codebase, developer tooling, and engineering processes through AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, plus 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in Java or a comparable language and experience maintaining production backend services.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic systems, including tool calling, agent orchestration, prompt and context engineering, and agent-output evaluation.
• Experience using coding agents and AI tooling for daily code writing, review, and testing.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including data modeling and query performance.
• Knowledge of Git workflows, CI/CD, code review, and test automation.
• Experience integrating APIs and working with service-based architectures.
• Clear communication, collaboration, and confidence contributing to technical decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-availability or high-volume systems, ideally in fintech or payments.
• Experience with agent frameworks or protocols such as MCP or LangGraph, or with internal developer tools.

Hiring process
